First of all, we will have to evaluate your situation because each one is different.
With our knowledge, knowing your area, we have a very good idea about the kind of well you need knowing some soils are rocky, clayey or either with special rock. Those things will all to be taken in consideration when we give you our recommendations. We acquired these knowledges from years of experience in all kinds of water installations.
We suggest artesian well in most cases due to the good quality of drinking water, but sometimes a surface well is better for some situations.
The following picture represents two different kinds of water channeling : artesian wells are drilled deeper with a small diameter while surface wells (or shallow-dug well) are dug wider and not as deep.

This decision can't be taken lightly, we need to know what your water is going to be used for. Is it for a farm? A hotel? An apartment building? Or for your home? With these informations we'll know how much water you'll need for your everyday needs and we'll give you the best advice.
Knowing all these informations, we will check for the well's location. There are rules to follow to make sure your well is made accordingly to the environmental standards, there are distances to be considered. We also have to make sure we don't contaminate the water table to avoid health problems for you or your neighbors.
For those who believe, like our ancesters, we still use dowsing to locate water sources. Only a few of our employees have that skill (dowser).
The 4 steps to do before digging a well are:
1-The consultation of your house plan and the land.
2-The meeting with our representative, who will define where the well will be dug, evaluate your needs and study the specifications of your area, and will then give you our recommandations.
3- The signature between both parties and handing over of the book "Informations on the work and the maintenance of a well". We will also give you some hints and advices to make your life easier and enjoyable.
4- The determination of the exact location of the future well to be able to request a permit for the catchment work keeping in mind all the limitations and possible barriers.
Of course, after the well is dug, it is our pleasure to offer our help. To ease your life, we can take care of your pump, the excavation work, the water analysis as well as the water treatment system, if necessary .
Artesian well for the quotation form cliquez ici
An artesian well is a 6 or 8" hole dug with a drill to draw water, and is usually drilled deeper than 50'. We, then, have to install a pump in the well to supply water to fulfill your needs like your home, your garage, your barn, etc.
The artesian well is the one we prefer to install. Why? Just because the water from an artesian well is safer to drink due to its depth and filtration from the aquifer and, you will also have a constant flow as well as a constant water quality. Furthermore, due to the depth of the artesian well, the impurities from the surface and the risk of contamination won't reach your water.
If you were to be too close to a risky area or, if there was rock before 16.5' deep, you would need a well casing to seal the well from infiltration. We, then, have to dig the well 4" bigger to fit the well casing as well as the sealing material. (See figure below)
Figure a) shows a well situated in "hard" consolidated formations, Figure b) shows a well with conductor casing needed because the rock was before 16.5 feet and Figure c) shows a well without conductor casing not needed due to the rock being lower than 16.5 feet.

When we meet with you, we just don't go to take measures and check for the accessibility to the site, we also evaluate your needs in order to advise you of the suitably location of the future well and give you advices about other things like the mechanical room location, the water tank as well as the septic field etc.
A qualified personnel that will take all the time needed, that's le Groupe Roch Bernier Puits Artésien!
Here are some of the few things we check to insure the best water quality possible. Take note that the upper left side of the following picture is the best situation.
First thing to do is evaluate your needs: as per CMHC(Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation), we have to be able to pump a minimum of at least 3.6 gals/min us (14 liters/min) for a period of 2 hours and be able to supply 119 gals/day (450 liters/day) for every resident. However, it will be different for houses with more than 2 bathrooms, or with some high water consumption appliances like multi-jets showers. And, after having figured out your needs, the drillers and technicians will be available to guide you through the whole process.
When we meet, we will also give you an average of how deep your well will be with the knowledge we have of your needs and area. In fact, deeper the well is, greater your water storage will be (around 1.46 gal/foot for a 6" well), so the deeper your well is, the less we need it to be a strong well. For example: if we have 100 gals/hour with a well that produces 300 gals/hour, it would be enough for a family of 4. But if we only have 100 gals/hour, we would need to drill deeper to raise your water level or hit another vein to make sure you get all the water to fulfill your needs.
Note : Just to give you an average of the water you might need, a garden hose can use up from 200 to 400 gals/hour. See water consumption in Canada.
