First of all, the well must be sterilized every year. We prefer using a specialized product (Well Sanitizer), which will completely sanitize your well compared to the products usually used (Javex or Lavo 12). The sterilization is very important because it allows the pipes, the pumps and even the well to stay clean and healthy. If everyone followed those rules, be assured that there would be a lot less bacteriological problems since a poorly maintained well can become a source of contamination.
Secondly, regular analysis: as per the Government, a nitrites/nitrates and bacteriological analysis should be done twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, and the arsenic analysis should be done once a year or when there is a change in taste, color or smell. The minimum we recommend is a bacteriological analysis once a year and a thorough one every three years.
